A self-paced learning solution
The main content of the course is a comprehensive self-study programme that covers all aspects of the Norwegian language from the very beginner level and up to and including the elementary level (A2).
You can do up to 12 hours per week, including the virtual classroom lessons.
Virtual classroom
All students on the program will be invited to join our virtual classroom lessons. These are hosted by an experienced teacher and will give you conversation practice and verbal training. The virtual classroom has daily conversational lessons in Norwegian.
It is mandatory to attend at least 2 x 45 minutes in the virtual classroom per week (on average) in order to be credited the hours from the self-paced course.
Approved courses
Lingu is accredited by Kompetanse Norge to provide online language training for adult immigrants. After completing the course, you will get a certificate that states the total number of hours you have completed with us. You can use this certificate in applications to the UDI regarding permanent residence permit or citizenship in Norway. You can also use the certificate in job applications etc.
Target audience
This course is for expats, internationals and adult immigrants who need to study Norwegian and get the required 250 or 550 hours of language training.
Requirements
All attendants need to have
- Regular access to a computer with broadband Internet access.
- Intermediate digital skills. They must be able to navigate the internet, manage login details, and be able to configure their own computer to work with standard equipment such as microphone and headset.
- Ability to work independently.

If you estimate that you are ready to move up to the next level faster than the standard pattern or, alternatively, stay with any level for longer, that is absolutely fine. You simply move on when you are ready.
